Saints quickly made an impact on NXT.
He won the NXT North American Championship nearly three months after his debut and defended the title successfully against Ethan Page at his first Stand & Deliver premium live event, the biggest show of the year for the brand.
Nearly a year later, Saints made clear in a recent interview with Fox News Digital he wants to continue to rack up the accolades while in NXT.
He is eyeing a chance at becoming a two-time NXT champion at this year's Stand & Deliver, which would get him mentioned in the same breath as other former stars who came through the brand, including Oba Femi, Trick Williams, Tommaso Ciampa, Karrion Kross, Finn Bálor, Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe.
"I am focused on becoming a two-time NXT champion, that's for sure," Saints said. "That's a small list of people that have done that and I wanna put my name on that list. I've done a lot in a year. I wanna keep that going.
"I wanna add another thing to that list. I wanna add, like, 'Yeah, Ricky was here for a year, and he was a two-time NXT champion. He was a former North American champion. Like, he did it. He opened Stand & Deliver on his first Stand & Deliver, and now he's going to close Stand & Deliver.' You can't get any better than that."
Saints' relationship with Page goes back even before the two were in WWE together.
They either have been aligned with each other or squaring off against one another. The two haven't been on the same page for a few months.
"He's not a bad guy, but the plan hasn't been going to what we have agreed to," Saints told Fox News Digital. "So, I need to look out for myself to make sure I get the NXT Championship back again. So, if he can't fall in line, then it is what it's gonna have to be."
