Oman Launches New Initiatives to Boost Hotel Apartments Market

Oman’s hotel apartment market is going through some exciting upgrades so guests will have a smoother experience, and property teams will find things easier to run. Visit Oman along with Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN) is kicking off programs that will help small hotel apartment owners in Muscat and across the country. Their goal is to make property listings more attractive, and at the same time, provide smart tools for managing room inventories and sharing deals on big travel sites worldwide.

Oman Launches New Initiatives to Boost Hotel Apartments Market

OMRAN is jumping into the fast-growing travel market by investing in UK-based UnderTheDoormat Group. This company focuses on short-term rentals and the latest property tech. The investment is worth about RO1.81 million (or $4.7 million) and is all about making life easier for small hotel apartment owners.

The key challenge in the hotel apartment sector is the management of multiple listings across various platforms. Traditionally, property owners have struggled with the possibility of double bookings if their properties are listed on multiple sites simultaneously. UnderTheDoormat offers a solution by consolidating property management into a unified system. The technology enables owners to list their properties across 50+ platforms while ensuring seamless booking management and synchronization of availability.

This innovation helps property owners avoid booking conflicts, offering a smooth experience for both owners and guests. The integrated payment gateway adds another layer of convenience, ensuring transactions are securely processed while maintaining ease of use for customers.

In addition to its collaboration with UnderTheDoormat, Visit Oman has signed multiple partnerships with Omani travel technology platforms. These include My Ticket, a platform for managing ticket bookings, and Yalla Pass for event tickets, both of which help tourists plan and enhance their trips. Other notable partnerships include the My Events platform, which offers access to events, and the Masarra app for booking rest houses, chalets, and apartments.

The digital landscape in Oman is rapidly evolving, with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism leading efforts to digitize services for the tourism sector. Recently, the Ministry signed a contract with a national travel operator to create an integrated digital platform that will allow Omani tourist guides to showcase their services directly to visitors. This initiative aims to empower local guides and make it easier for tourists to book authentic Omani experiences.
