The North, known for its unique features, attracts both Canadian and international travelers eager for unforgettable experiences. Tourism is a vital part of the northern economy, generating employment, supporting local communities, and driving growth for businesses and attractions throughout the region, while contributing to the economic development of all three territories.

In celebration of World Tourism Day, the Honourable Dan Vandal, Minister of Northern Affairs and Minister responsible for PrairiesCan and CanNor, announced a significant investment from the Government of Canada. Over $800,000 will be dedicated to bolstering tourism sectors across the North. Delivered by CanNor, this funding will benefit seven businesses and organizations by enhancing infrastructure, upgrading equipment, offering eco-tourism and Indigenous cultural experiences, increasing accommodation options, improving marketing efforts, and expanding operations to ensure year-round services.

These strategic investments by the Government of Canada aim to help northern businesses and organizations adapt, grow, and succeed. The initiative will deliver lasting benefits for the territories while positioning the North as a premier destination for travelers.
