Verizon’s mobile services are down across the country

Verizon is experiencing a huge outage affecting its mobile services across the country. “During the incident we received reports from Paducah, Birmingham, Fairhope, Foley, Mobile, Montgomery, Pelham, Phenix City, Trussville, Valley, Bella Vista, Benton, Bentonville, Brookland, Des Arc, Fayetteville, Heber Springs, Hot Springs Village, Washington, Dover and 1418 other cities,” according to a website tracking the outage. There are also more than 100,000 user reports of problems on Downdetector. Downdetector’s outage map shows hotspots in many places, including New York and Atlanta. Based on that map, it appears as though the outages are more prevalent on the East Coast.“We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers,”

There are also more than 100,000 user reports of problems on Downdetector. Downdetector's outage map shows hotspots in many places, including New York and Atlanta. Based on that map, it appears as though the outages are more prevalent on the East Coast.

"We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers," Verizon spokesperson Ilya Hemlin says in a statement to The Verge. "Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue."

The company posted the same statement to its support account on X. It is also replying to people expressing complaints; many users are reporting that account that their phones are in SOS mode.

"We're aware of a Verizon outage impacting customers in parts of the country," the Federal Communications Commission says in a post on X. "We are working to determine the cause and extent of these service disruptions."
